Is there a more exciting time than the festive period? Not that we know of. While the big day might still be quite a while away, things are going to start warming up in the next month or so. Visitors and locals alike can get into the seasonal groove by attending one of the many Christmas events that the city will be hosting. And indeed -- there are no shortage of events. Below, we’re going to outline just three of the scheduled events, but they’re just the tip of the iceberg. Things will get even more festive as we move into Christmas. Check out the details below, and begin planning your trip!

Fun in the streets

A place called Candytown sounds tempting, right? Taking place on November 30 in Yaletown, the event will transform Mainland Street into a festive celebration. There’ll be costumed characters, street performers, live music, market stalls, ice carving demos, festive lights, Santa, and of course candy. Fun, food and merriment for young and old alike. This event attracts over 15,000 attendees each year.

The magic of lights

It’s always a special occasion to take a trip to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, but it’ll be extra special from November 22. From then until January 26, the Suspension Bridge, the Treetops Adventure, Cliffwalk, the canyon, and the surrounding parklands will be brilliantly illuminated with hundreds of thousands of festive lights that will amaze and delight all visitors. Canyon Lights, A Winter Festival is a must-see!

Feeling festive

Travelling with the children in tow? There are two Santa Claus parades you can take the kids to. The Vancouver Santa Claus Parade takes place on December 1 and travels throughout the downtown area with bright colourful floats, marching bands, dance troupes, and the guest of honour, Santa. There's another chance to see Santa on December 7 at the Santa Claus Parade and Christmas in the Park celebration at Memorial Place Park in Maple Ridge.
